tips on attending rotary lights in la crosse wisconsin
Are masks required? We would encourage all that walk through the park to wear a mask/face covering. Although this event is outdoors, at times it may be too busy to practice physical distancing, so for the safety of all attending, we encourage the wearing of a mask. As always, you can drive through the park and see the entire display without leaving your car.
When to attend? We are open every night from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. Hours are 5pm-10pm except Christmas Day/Eve which is 5pm-9pm and New Year's Eve which is 5pm-1am. Our busiest nights are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On these nights there is usually a line for traffic. Check out the Maps & Directions page for the route of the line. If you would like to avoid the line, Monday-Thursday evenings there is usually a minimal line. We would encourage you to check out the schedule to see when special events take place throughout the season.
Can we drive or walk through? Both. Traffic is blocked off shortly after 4pm, when the display opens at 5pm, vehicle traffic is allowed to drive through. You are welcome to walk through the park at any time, but we do not officially open until 5pm.
Where to park? There is street parking available near Riverside Park and several parking ramps within walking distance. If there is no line for traffic there is a parking lot on the north end of the park. However, when there is a long line it would be easier to find parking elsewhere.
Are dogs allowed? Yes, as long as they are on a leash. Just keep in mind that on weekends the park will be busy.
Is there food available? We do have hot chocolate, other hot drinks and cookies available for sale in the park in the gingerbread house. If you are looking for something more substantial there are numerous restaurants downtown within walking distance of the park.
Is the display handicapped accessible? The display is in a public park with sidewalks throughout. There are ramps at all sidewalk intersections. The warming shelters do have a wood chip path up to them with a small step up at the doors which would probably require assistance to navigate in a wheelchair. The Santa House has metal grate ramps at the entrance and exit and no steps.
