Live
Nativity |
History of the Diorama
The Diorama, or Live Nativity, was
created by
members of First Lutheran Evangelical
Church of
La Crosse as an outreach project for
their members
in 1992. The Diorama was staged in the
parking lot
of First Lutheran for two weekends in
December. The
purpose of the Diorama is to proclaim
the Gospel
message of the birth of Jesus Christ.
In the spring of 1995, Rotary Lights
invited the
First Lutheran group to perform the
Diorama at
Riverside Park. Realizing that an
undertaking of this
magnitude would require a larger cast,
they enlisted
the help of other WELs churches in the
area. The
Diorama now consists of 20 area WELs
churches, a
combined cast of over 800 people and
various live
animals to stage the presentation for
four weekends
December each year. The Diorama is
supported by
an all volunteer workforce and cast.
2006 will mark
the 11th anniversary of The Live
Nativity as part of |
|
the Rotary Lights display.
Enjoy your visit to Riverside Park and
have a blessed Christmas.
